It's been a while, since I started a course for total beginners.
Last one was 10 months ago?
Anyway, the new one started yesterday, 5-Oct 2020. It was fun as always!
It was quite a healthy number of five students from a teenager to a big adult. 😊
Most of them have studied before with Duolingo etc.
I just love the feeling of exploring a new language with new students.
I feel so excited. Sometimes I try to start learning new languages to experience what my new students experience in the beginners.
I don't usually go straight into the textbook (Japanese for Busy People 1), but yesterday, I felt likeI could dive into it after some fifteen minutes of learning numbers up to 99.
During this Covid19 time, we meet on Microsoft Teams. Some were new to Teams, but after a few glitches with voice quality adjustment, it went rather smoothly.
The whiteboard works well as well. I may assign the colours of the pens to each so that I can see who's writing on the whiteboard. We read a Hiragana table like any primary pupils do in Japan (saying it aloud in Aiueo order really helps to understand the phonetic aspect of Japanese language) and wrote あいうえお。
We read the main dialogue of Lesson 1 and learn how to say some countries in Japanese and how to say the people from these countries.
